Toronto Metropolitan University

Description

Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) is a leading comprehensive innovation university integrated into Canada’s largest and most diverse city. An urban institution in the heart of Toronto, TMU is committed to serve societal needs and engage its diverse community. A combination of theory and professional learning provides graduate and undergraduate education that is distinct from other universities. That difference is reflected in the program mix and the reinforcement of classroom lectures with contact with business and industry, laboratory work, field trips and work experience. Innovation and entrepreneurship are an important focus, supported by TMU’s zone learning model which enables students to gain experience in creating ventures with potential for social or economic impact.
TMU offers a vast selection of undergraduate, master’s and PhD programs in seven faculties – Arts; The Creative School; Community Services; Engineering and Architectural Science; Science; the Ted Rogers School of Management; and the Lincoln Alexander School of Law; and the Yeates School of Graduate Studies. The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education is Canada’s largest, with 60,000 annual registrations. The TMU School of Medicine will open in 2025, offering an undergraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD) program and a postgraduate residency program.
TMU is helping to reshape downtown Toronto with campus developments that include the Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex, the Centre for Urban Innovation and the Sheldon and Tracy Levy Student Learning Centre.
The university enjoys a reputation for collaboration with community and industrial partners in the pursuit of its research objectives. Strategic research themes include: urban innovation; justice, equity and society; culture and creativity; work, skills, industry; health and well-being; and technology and intelligent systems.
