Founded in 1839, Mount Allison University is a small, primarily undergraduate university in Sackville, New Brunswick, on Canada’s east coast. Students come from more than 80 countries around the world to make up a diverse and talented student body of approximately 2,300. Mount Allison prides itself on providing a high-quality academic experience combined with a variety of experiential learning opportunities and a wealth of cultural and extracurricular activities, including varsity, club, and intramural sports, within a tight-knit community.
With degrees in Arts, Science, Arts and Science, Commerce, Fine Arts, and Music, the University provides a flexible liberal arts and sciences education that prepares students for any career path. Students can choose from more than 50 programs that match their interests and career goals. Nearly 20 new or revamped academic programs have been introduced since 2020, including a Bachelor of Arts and Science (BASc) in Interdisciplinary Health Studies, a Bachelor of Arts with joint major in Geocomputing, a combined degree in Computer Science and Music, and new major and honours options in Visual and Material Culture Studies, Biopsychology, and Women’s and Gender Studies (mta.ca/programs).
Mount Allison is committed to providing personalized, one-on-one attention to its students with a student-to-faculty ratio of 16:1. To date, 56 Mount Allison students have become Rhodes Scholars — one of the best per capita records of any university in Canada. The University also has one of the largest endowments per capita at more than $220 million, which actively supports all aspects of campus life. Financial aid support for students exceeded $5.5 million in 2022-23, with 81 per cent of first-year students receiving a financial entrance award in 2022. Students also have exceptional opportunities to join businesses and organizations locally and internationally for paid internships, and undergraduate students can participate in research as early as second year.
